In 41 years of existence, Hanna Barbera Production has managed to get its name between the most popular cartoon productions in the world. Although the production is defunct since 2001, Hanna Barbera has left a lot of cartoons and characters that will always be remembered. The production was established as an independent division of MGM by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera in 1957, soon after the closure of MGM. However, the American company was a subsidiary to other companies most of the times and in 2001, its rights were purchased by the popular Warner Bros Animation.

The first of the many cartoons is “The Ruff And Reddy Show”, premiered in 1957. One year later, they started to broadcast one more animation television series “The Huckleberry Hound Show”, which has won Hanna Barbera an Emmy Award. This series included three different cartoons: “Yogi Bear”, “Pixie and Dixie and Mr. Jinks” and “Hokey Wolf”, but soon Yogi Bear got its own series. As it is known, some of the most widely recognized cartoon characters are produced by Hanna Barbera. One of the most popular Hanna Barbera cartoons is Tom and Jerry, featuring the legendary characters the cat Tom and the mouse Jerry.

"Tom and Jerry” takes a lot of credit for the reputation of Hanna Barbera, since they were adored by millions of kids all around the world. In all 161 episodes of the classic Tom and Jerry, the cat is chasing the smart mouse, which always finds a way to escape the traps and attacks of the poor cat. Since this animated series of shorts films is one of the most watched, it was awarded with 7 Academy Awards for Animation Short Film, sharing the top of this category with Silly Symphonies.

However, Hanna Barbera has produced a lot of other remarkable characters and shows, including The Flintstones. This series presents the life of a Stone Age man, Fred, with his family and his best friend and neighbor. Fred is a loving husband, a great father and is often angry because of trivial issues. The show was first premiered in 1960 and was loved by the world-wide audience and not only by kids. Featuring other interesting characters, dinosaurs, tigers, mammoths and other extinct animals, there is a lot to love about The Flintstones.
